What if you missed the boat on SEO?

By | Industry News, Internet Marketing, Marine Marketing, Pay Per Click Marketing, SEO Marketing, Social Media, Website Design | No Comments

Did your season already start and you are slower than you expected? That is likely directly related to how much marketing of your business you did in the off-season.

As spring and summer roll around, most marine businesses are getting into their busiest time of year. Spring breakers and family vacationers are migrating to warmer weather locales looking for good fishing, lodging, and excursions where they can make memories. However, how are they going to find you in the search engines if you didn’t start SEO 3-4 months ago?

We’ve discussed on our blog a few times the importance of tackling SEO (search engine optimization) in the slower season so when your money-making season comes around, you get the traffic, rankings, and bookings organically. SEO takes time to build since it is organic in nature. But you didn’t start in the winter. So now what? What can you do today that will get you those bookings now? Well, here are your top options:

  1. PPC or Pay-Per-Click marketing! This is a no-brainer if you are not as booked as you should be – or as fully booked as the boat in the slip next to you. PPC marketing is buying ad space at the very top of Google search results for your most important keywords. With PPC management, we have the ability to target and re-target people who have searched and visited your website, track conversions (bookings or form submittals), get better results out of daily ad spend, and so much more. This is for sure the quickest way to increase your business.
  2. Social Media Marketing! If you don’t have a Facebook or Instagram, you are really putting yourself at a disadvantage. We live in a very visual society and you can sell yourself the best by showcasing exactly the experience you give your customers. Photos and videos are worth a million words when it comes to advertising your business. People want to see what they are going to pay for. Having previous customers leave you reviews on Facebook is an easy way to establish you are an expert in your field and show that you provide a quality experience! With proper social media management, you can advertise your business fully and effectively.
  3. Start SEO now! While you might be behind in this, starting now with optimization will set you up for next season. Like I said above (and many times on this blog), SEO takes time to build up. It takes time to optimize. It takes time to see results. However, once there is effective management in place and continual optimization, your organic traffic will steadily increase and an increase in bookings from that traffic is not far away!

If you feel you missed the boat in starting your online marketing strategy and are losing business because of it, please contact us so we can help! We can give you a free online marketing analysis and a 20-minute consultation with our marketing manager. She has almost 2 decades of experience in the marine industry and can provide excellent feedback and data for you to review. Fill out the form below!

Did you know SEO is not instant?

By | Industry News, Internet Marketing, Pay Per Click Marketing, SEO Marketing, Social Media | No Comments

There has been a lot of shift over the last few years regarding SEO, especially when it comes to the marine industry. What you could once effectively manage yourself with a list of “holy grail” keywords that most related to what your marine business was offering and just go for it is for sure not the case now. There is a whole slew of different factors that contribute to your search engine rankings on Google, Yahoo, and Bing – and all of those factors take TIME.

Search engine optimization now 100% fueled by a natural, free-flowing language search. This means people are searching for “who is the best website company for fishing charters?” instead of “fishing charter websites”. Make sense? 80% of internet users own a smartphone and as a result, people are using the tools at their disposal like Siri and Google Now to speak their searches, rather than typing them in. Naturally, people are including more detail in their typed searches as they seek to find what they’re looking for faster. Therefore, when it comes to rankings,  your focus should not be for few top keywords that remain the same over time but to focus on a much larger number of natural language searches that is growing and changing rapidly.

Now the big question – if SEO rankings are not as instant as they used to be, how long will it take for me to climb up the rankings?

The short answer: it depends. No two websites or business are the same. Different markets, offerings, competition, goals, etc are just a sampling of what search engine algorithms are looking for when they compile their rankings. Our rule of thumb is a MINIMUM of 6 months to see results. And that is just a start. Think of it as phases to growing your marine business.

  • Month 1 – Research and discovery, website audit, keyword strategy, and planning. There is a lot of planning that goes into starting an online marketing strategy for marine businesses. Every market is different. Goals are different.
  • Month 2 – Technical SEO work. There quite a bit of back end work to websites, social media, directories, etc that all factor into this.
  • Month 3 – Focus on content!! We have talked about this at length here, but fresh content to your website and social outlets is crucial to SEO results. Fishing reports, blogs, videos, pictures are just the tip of the iceberg. At the minimum, you should be posting weekly.
  • Month 4 – Continued focus on content. Make sure your fishing reports or blogs have natural, free-flowing text and pictures that showcase what you are offering and you are posting consistently is key.
  • Month 5 – If you haven’t already, incorporating social media. We often include this in some of our marketing packages because social media is very critical to success. Posting links to your fishing reports or blogs, getting reviews, and posting regularly are crucial.
  • Month 6 – By this time, you should see an increase in rankings from when you started. They might not be where you want them to be (or you maybe have seen a dramatic increase – every business is different), but as we said, SEO rankings take time and the longer you do it, the more you will benefit.

Website Warning Signs!

By | Industry News, Internet Marketing, Marine Marketing, Pay Per Click Marketing, SEO Marketing, Social Media, Website Design | No Comments

One of the biggest questions we here are Charternet, especially when it comes to websites and updates, is “how do you know my website needs to be redesigned?”

There are a number of things that come to mind for me that are the tell-tale warning signs a website needs to be updated. Almost daily, our team is looking at what Google, Yahoo, and Bing are requiring of websites to rank well on their search engines; we are looking into the latest technologies to give your potential customers the best experience.

However, we know that sometimes you want to do the legwork yourself. In today’s post, we are going to give you 5 warning signs that your website is hurting your business and in need of a redesign. Obviously, there are some gimmes: age is definitely one of those. If it’s been 5 or more years since your last website update then it’s probably time to at least consider it. With that said, age is not the end-all, be-all when deciding to redesign.

5 warning signs you need to update your website:

  1. Mobile-friendly? Responsive? We have talked about this at length on our blogs. If you aren’t mobile friendly and responsive – it’s time for a redesign! Make sure you read THIS POST!
  2. Is business booming? Or is it slowing down? Steady? If it is slowing (and not due to off-season), that is an indicator that customers are going elsewhere!
  3. Does my website align with my current offerings? This is a big one. Most customers who designed their site 10 years ago had information on their site that wasn’t relevant to what the offer now. READ THIS POST to see what we mean.
  4. Are you listed on Google, Yahoo, and Bing?  The modern content management systems (CMS) that we use allow our marketing team to integrate Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) into a new website, ensuring new sites get the best possible start (or restart) on all search engines. It is likely that if your site is older than 5 years old (and you haven’t had anyone managing your search engine rankings, your old site hasn’t been set up for SEO, uses outdated tech and strategies, and/or just poor site architecture, Google will find it difficult to index and, as a result, it won’t understand where your site should be listed. These are problems that plague older websites and will prevent you from reaching your ranking and marketing goals.
  5. Are you proud to share your website with potential customers? If you would rather just have potential customers call you then market your website, then that is a huge red flag. Your website should make your life easier, make marketing your business easier, make converting clients easier, and growing your business easier.

If you answered “no” to any of these questions, then your current website is hurting your business instead of working for you. Naturally, some of these questions are more straight forward than others. Others rely on simple tests, others depend on data, and some are based entirely on subjective opinion. But all of these indicate your website is some level of broken and needs to be fixed, and the fix is almost always a redesign.

Interested in increasing traffic to your site? Time to modernize your site and deliver the right 1st impression? At Charternet Web Solutions we deliver sites that offer easy navigation, making the redesigned websites both human and search engine friendly. We take pride in offering responsive design, a necessity for businesses to connect effectively to the smartphones and devices that are quickly replacing the desktop/laptop. Fill out the form below and our team will get in touch to discuss your needs:

Ignoring Your Dated Website? It’s Hurting Your Business More Than You Know.

By | Custom Content, Industry News, Internet Marketing, Marine Marketing, Pay Per Click Marketing, SEO Marketing, Social Media, Website Design | No Comments
We all have those things we own where we say “if it isn’t broke, don’t fix it”. Your website might technically function but, in reality, if it has been over 5 years since you have updated your website – your website is costing your business BIG bucks.

More often than not, most of us think of our websites like our favorite old pair of shoes! Even though they are dated or could be performing better, we’re attached to them.

Another big factor is the cost of investing in a website redesign. We totally understand that a website redesign is no small task or investment and most people find the task daunting because they don’t know a lot about it – so they just ignore and wonder why business is slow and no one is booking charters. But boy – does it pays dividends in the long run.

Going into this off-season, if you’re on the fence about investing in a website redesign, we made you a list of 3 reasons it’s time to pull the trigger:

1. Your Website Just Doesn’t Work

One of the biggest complaints we get from our customers is that their current site is just not working – with lack of attention to your site over time inevitably you have broken links, outdated pricing, charter offerings that no longer exist, and likely a decline in your search engine rankings.

Not only is it frustrating for you a business owner, but it is also frustrating to your potential customers! More than half of the world’s population does all their searching and buying via a mobile device – whether it is a phone or tablet. That is the world we live in and if your site does not offer a modern, accurate, easy to navigate experience your potential customers notice it and are likely booking with another charter.

Neglecting this for too long can have a significant impact on your bookings, income and business reputation.

2. Your Current Website Isn’t Mobile Friendly & Responsive

This should be a no-brainer – we have talked about it at length. And like we said above, more than half of the world is living, searching and buying on their mobile devices. Making sure your website functions on these platforms not only assures better rankings on search engines, but an easier, more user-friendly experiences for your customers.  Plain and simple, if your website isn’t mobile optimized, chances are you’ll miss out on valuable potential customers and even repeat customers.

study released by Salesforce found that “83% of mobile users say that a seamless experience across all devices is very important.” People want to be able to get the information when and where they need it and if your website can’t deliver it to them, they’ll look to the guy in the slip next to you guaranteed.

3. You Need to Align Your Website with Your Marketing Strategy

As your marine business grows, it’s almost guaranteed your marketing strategy will grow and evolve as well. Making sure your website conveys your marketing strategy is the most important element – your website is the face of your marine business. Your marketing ideas must be replicated online because if a potential customer lands on your online storefront and finds your site is dated, hard to navigate, bogged down with errors, you are not likely converting site visitors into customer and not getting the most for your marketing buck.

A well-designed, user-friendly website is one of the most effective marketing tools you have in your arsenal. If it has been over 5 years since you did anything to your website, it’s time to update. Your customers want the best on-the-water experience – from website to dock – your story should be conveyed in the best possible manner to reel in those customers!

CUSTOMER SPOTLIGHT PART TWO | On-Going Website Maintenance & Marketing Strategies Drastically Improve Business

By | Custom Content, Customer Spotlight, Marine Marketing, Pay Per Click Marketing, SEO Marketing, Website Design | No Comments

In part one of this series on Mainsail Yacht Charters, we talked about how on-going site maintenance has drastically improved user experience. If you haven’t read it already, jump on over and give it a quick read. Our custom integration with Central Yacht Agent really pushed his user experience to the next level and the access to instant information, while never leaving his site, drastically improved his conversion rate!

In part two of this series, we see how our marketing team continued to work with Kevin to ensure, with the upgrades to the site, that his marketing strategy was being updated as well – and the results have been nothing short of amazing. With the improvements made to the website, and specifically the specials page with integrated brochure, we are now sending more ads within Adwords to the specials page. In addition, we have updated the ad copy for our ads to highlight some of the features of the specials page and standout deals.

With more quality content on the specials page, the ‘quality scores” that determine the relevancy of ads, keywords, and landing page to our audience have improved. We now have numerous keywords with 10/10 quality scores which is the best possible rating you can get for a keyword! Higher quality scores means that we are more likely to outrank competitors. This means that we are able to rank higher on the Google SERPs for less money.

Check out the outstanding Google Adwords performance below. Plus all has been achieved with zero change to the budget:

  • 5% increase in conversions
  • 13% increase in clicks
  • 13% decrease in the cost per click
  • 28% increase in impressions

In Facebook, we have created visual advertisements for specific yacht specials on the specials page. We are now able to send ads directly to the yacht page on the Mainsail website that has the integrated brochure. Previously, we had Facebook ads going to the brochure website which was separate from Mainsail. Having the two integrated allows people to stay on the site longer, and explore all of the yacht details in one place. Plus, our Facebook ads have tons of audience engagement with people liking, sharing, and commenting on the ads on a daily basis.

Facebook conversions improve as well:

  • 5% increase in direct leads
  • 14% increase in clicks
  • 16% decrease in the cost per click
  • 24% increase in impressions

Overall, there was a 90% increase on people taking action on our Facebook ads which includes (likes, comments, shares, and clicks). Again, all while our total Facebook budget remained the same.  The customers get a fantastic search experience and Mainsail’s business is converting at a much better rate! Kevin reported  that:

“January was a fantastic month. The best it has been a while! I am not sure if it is the new changes and integrations on the website, the ads you’ve been creating (more on this next week in part 2), or a combination of everything but what you’re doing is working very well! Keep up the great work!”

Interested in increasing traffic to your site? Time to modernize your site and deliver the right 1st impression? CUSTOMER SPOTLIGHT PART ONE | On-Going Website Maintenance Ensures Cutting Edge User Experience

By | Custom Content, Customer Spotlight, Marine Marketing, Pay Per Click Marketing, SEO Marketing, Website Design | No Comments

Websites are not printed marketing materials. You cannot just launch them and walk away. Your website, regardless of when it was designed, needs to be incrementally improved over time. What is needed is a maintenance schedule to ensure the best user-experience you can!

Long time client, Mainsail Yacht Charters, is a great example of exactly how on-going maintenance cannot only give customer’s a better experience, but can increase business rapidly! Over the last few years, we have continued to work with Kevin to ensure his website has the most modern technology guaranteeing a better user experience. More specifically, over this past month, we have implemented a brand new integration with his booking agent – Central Yacht Agent. The integration we built not only ensures that yacht searches and yacht brochures are fully accessible from the site, but more importantly that they are all contained within the site with the same look and feel as the existing site! This is crucial to a successful online SEO marketing strategy. Linking people off your site does nothing to grow your SEO results – which is exactly why Mainsail had us undertake this custom integration.

The CYA integration features a custom built layout for brochure XML feeds and yacht search results. You can see it in action below:

In short, this is a win for both the customer and a win for Mainsail Yacht Charters.

Mobile Friendly Redesign & Marketing Management Boost Traffic at Endless Summer!

By | Customer Spotlight, Industry News, SEO Marketing, Website Design | No Comments

We are excited to highlight our next customer feature – Endless Summer Charters! Charternet Web Solutions had the honor of partnering with Endless Summer a few months ago to tackle 2 of their biggest hurdles: redesigning their dated website with a modern, customer-luring, responsive design and tackling their organic rankings with SEO management. We recently sat down with Angela to review her feedback and see what kind of impact to the business the redesign process and marketing management has had!

Endless Summer Charters will show you some of the best back bay and near shore fishing in SW Florida. Whether you are an avid fisherman or a family with kids, everyone at Endless Summer has the experience for both.  Plus, they offer amazing eco-tours and sight-seeing tours! The whole crew at Endless Summer loves sharing their passion for fishing and the islands of SW Florida.

Give us a little back story. What led you to want a redesign in the first place?

We started our website about nine years ago.  The internet was pretty straight forward back then and starting, maintaining and optimizing the website for search engines was easy.  The website produced for us but, we realized in the last year, it was at a point where keeping us at the top of search engines was beyond our comprehension.

In your opinion, what were the specific issues you wanted fixed with your redesign?

We noticed we started falling in the rankings. We suspected it was because we weren’t mobile friendly and really needed an updated look.

Now that your new website is launched, what has your experience been?

Charternet developed a website that flows easily while following my wishes perfectly. We’ve gotten great complements on the flow and ease of our website along with our booking and payment integration. We tried the DIY website but came to a point where we needed to focus on running charters and communicating with customers rather than attempt to stay up to speed with the constantly changing online marketing world – it was just beyond our capabilities. Our new website is fast and easy to make changes ourselves. Plus the Charternet team was so easy to work with and personable too.  We made the right decision!

From an analytics standpoint, we have seen an amazing change in traffic based on the redesign and active marketing management. We have increased an average of 20 spots in Google, Yahoo and Bing rankings since the re-launch in September and 30% of the key word rankings are brand new!

Seeing the growth in Endless Summer is amazing. They are growing a much broader audience since implementing SEO and delivering the adventure of a lifetime to their new customers! Take a look at a few of their reviews:

Thanks Captain Bill Hammond and Matt for being our entire family's go to for amazing fishing for 7 years now! It's safe to say the whole extended family, generation after generation loves you guys and every year we look forward to the adventures you bring us! Thanks for the memories!!! This is only a glimpse!!

Amanda S.

My husband, daughter and I had a great day fishing with Captain Bill. We caught many different fish... including a baby grouper and a stingray. Captain Bill moved us around during the day to help us find fish and was extremely knowledgeable about the entire area. We didn't take home any keepers but we all had a wonderful day together on the water. Can't ask for much more!.

Shana R.

The weather And tides were a challenge. With that said, the trip was one of the best charters I've booked! Bill Was a great guide and managed to , despite the poor conditions, get my dad his first snook. We all had a great time and WILL book out next charter with Endless Summer.

R.M. Tyre

A huge thank you to Angela and the whole crew at Endless Summer for taking the time to sit down with us and giving us your honest opinion of their experience with the Charternet team!

Marine Search Engine Optimization

The BIG Question About SEO

By | SEO Marketing | No Comments
When it comes to online marketing, there are a lot of avenues to choose from and combine. You have social media marketing, pay-per-click marketing, email marketing. But the most popular is Search Engine Optimization or SEO. We have talked a lot (here, here and here) on how important SEO is to your marine business, but the BIGGEST question we get is, “When will I start seeing results!?” The short answer – SEO is a slow burn. It takes time to build rankings, especially if you are in a competitive market.
What a frustrating answer, right? But it’s the truth. Now for the long answer. How fast your SEO results start to meet your goals depends on a variety of factors including how long your site has been around, how competitive you market is, how and when your website was built (you can read more on that here), if you are adding fresh content to your site on a regular basis, and a whole slew of other factors. Truth is, every marine business starts from a different starting point. If your site hasn’t been redesigned in 5 or more year or isn’t mobile friendly or responsive, you are starting far behind your competitor that just redesigned their site, write blog posts or fishing reports weekly or monthly, and is reaching people on social media.
With all that said, most marine businesses will see SEO results in about 6 months. See what we mean by slow burn?  Below is a rough agenda of the results you can see when starting with our SEO marketing experts:
First Month – The marketing team at Charternet Web Solutions has been exclusively doing SEO for the marine industry for almost 20 years. Because of that, we have extensive knowledge of the the terms, key words and market your business needs to rank better in. We use this time to research your given area, do a website audit and form a keyword strategy.
Second & Third Month – Our marketing experts begin the behind the scenes technical stuff – optimizing your site based on the audit findings, getting you set up on your social media accounts so you can post regularly, help you build content, etc. We should note that this is the point where you will find out if you need to enter into a website redesign based on the audit results. The goal would be to make your website appealing to search engines, and Google in particular, has high standards. You will start building site content! Blogging, fishing reports, FAQs, company information, etc. The sooner you get a jump on this, the better off you will be!
Fourth Month – Continued content creation, technical optimization of the website, and development of a healthy link profile (which may include cleaning up low quality links). It is safe to say that if you have been adding quality content, keeping up with your fishing reports, posting blogs to social media, you could expect to see a marked increase in rankings, traffic, and lead generation. It won’t be anywhere close to the improvements you should see 12 months into your SEO efforts, but it should be significant enough that you know SEO is working.
Fifth & Sixth Month – By this month, you would have heard from us that social media and natural link building is crucial to your rankings. This can lead to a healthy, natural link profile, and of course generate leads in and of itself. Your marine website should be seeing more and more traffic coming in from SEO at this point, and your leads should be growing as a result. Going forward from here it will be tremendously important to keep up with your weekly activities of content creation, social media postings, etc!
Keep in mind that this is just a general outline. Many factors can reduce or increase this timeline.
Ready to expand your customer base with effective SEO marketing? With over 2 decades of marine industry experience, at Charternet Web Solutions we deliver powerful SEO management plans to fit your budget. Our experience with fishing charters, yacht brokers and water adventure companies combined with good data and knowledge means your marine business will rank on page 1 and your phone will ring off the hook!

Boost Bookings with Customer Reviews!

By | Internet Marketing, Marine Marketing, Pay Per Click Marketing, SEO Marketing, Social Media | No Comments

Regardless of what your marine businesses is (fishing charter, yacht charter, broker, boat insurance, etc), there’s nothing more valuable in growing your business than business than customer referrals and testimonials. Yelp and TripAdvisor, arguably the Internet’s largest social-local platforms for reviews and research, tout a combined 485+ million monthly users, dominance in local search engine results, and and the ability to shut down businesses over night. It’s no wonder Yelp and TripAdvisor are crucial to your business! Potential customers are actively looking at what your current customers have to say about you, your service, and the on-the-water experience they are going to receive.

Here are a few nuggets to bring some perspective:

  • 90% of customers read online reviews before choosing a company to go with
  • 88% of people trust online reviews as much as personal recommendations
  • Customers are likely to spend 31% more with a company that has excellent reviews
  • Customer reviews are 12 times more trusted than product or service descriptions

So what does that mean for you? Gathering and sharing your customer testimonials demonstrates how you deliver on your promise in the real world, with real people. A positive customer review resonates in a way that other marketing efforts just can’t. It conveys more than honesty – a glowing review confirms your credibility and trustworthiness, extends your reach to a broader audience when customers publish reviews on social media,  and makes for engaging content to share on your website, in your fishing reports & news, and via social media.

Are you not fully booked this season? Need help getting those customer reviews out into the world? By continuing to provide great customer service, asking your customers to review you, and monitoring those reviews, you can easily take advantage of the impact reviews have on today’s consumers. Tips to Flawlessly Optimize your Home Page

By | Internet Marketing, SEO Marketing, Social Media | No Comments

We’ve talked about it time and time again, but having an online marketing team for your marine business crucial to growing your online customer base. Search engine optimization (or SEO) ensures that people searching for your business, service or industry are able to find your website. As part of your online marketing team, we want you to understand just how SEO can help boost your business and reel in those potential online customers!

Below are 3 tips on how to flawlessly optimize your home page when working with your online marketing team:

Make sure you have keywords in the main content of your homepage. Google’s algorithm notices your headers first, but then crawls the main content of your site next. By placing your keywords (be it for your aggressive fishing charter market or your competitive marine eCommerce shop) in the first 100-150 words of the article, you are giving search engines crucial information to crawl. This is something that you probably do naturally which helps Google, and in turn your potential customer, understand what your page/website is all about.

2Make your homepage social media shareable. Whether you are a fishing charter or yacht broker, social shares generate more views on your content. And the more views you get, the more likely someone is to contact you! So don’t be shy about placing social sharing buttons prominently on your site. Try to use social share buttons strategically on your website. Our online marketing client, SeaPlay Sportfishing is a great example of this. We have social share buttons and icons with links in the header, footer, and within the call to action (or CTA). You want visitors to respond to the CTA on that page and see what you have to offer!

3Make sure your site is responsive and mobile-friendly! This is another topic we have talked about several times and we cannot stress enough how important it is that your marine website design be mobile friendly. With over half of Google searches coming from mobile devices, Google’s increasing focus on improving mobile search results. Mobile friendliness has turned into a must for all marine based businesses — if your website isn’t optimized for mobile devices, it’s likely to be discarded from mobile search results completely.

Following these tips, coupled with marine focused search engine optimization with Charternet Web Solutions, not only will you see an increase in rankings and visibility, but also an increase in converting the organic traffic to new customers.

“The representatives at Charternet have been fabulous to work with!   Inquiries and requests receive immediate response, pricing is very fair and their goal certainly seems to be 100% customer satisfaction!  I highly recommend this very knowledgeable team to any business wishing to improve their web presence!  No drama, just terrific, competent professionals!”

We are thrilled to highlight our next customer feature – Fishermen’s Village! Now, this feature is a little bit different than our past highlights for 2 reasons:

  1. We DID NOT design their site
  2. We DO NOT do online marketing for them

You read that right – Fishermen’s Village brought on Charternet Web Solutions after they had already redesigned their site and found a marketing team. So, I bet you are wondering why they sought us out in the first place? The answer to that is simple: quality, professionalism and consistency.

Kathy, give us a little back story. What led you to move your website hosting and maintenance to Charternet?

We were looking for quality, professionalism and consistency for the management of our website/host company.  We had previously worked with Charternet with great results on our first website.  It was time to partner with them again!

In your opinion, what were the specific issues you had with your previous host provider?

“Main issues were lack of timely response and the need to be able to partner with the host company to make sure I was kept in the loop as marketing director for the property.”

Since switching to Charternet Web Solutions, what has changed? What can you do now you couldn’t do before?

“I now feel confident that issues will be addressed and resolved in an extremely timely fashion AND that I will be educated on what caused the problem/issue.  They have taught me how to make changes to our website which can be done in house, allowing me to be more confident and effectively promote our property. Everyone I have had the pleasure of working with at Charternet has gone above and beyond the call of duty in servicing our account.  I feel like I am part of their family, that they care about our success and want to continue to supply us with reliable and thorough customer service.  I give them an A++++!!  Oh, and did I mention how patient they are!!!”

A huge thank you to Kathy at Fishermen’s Village for taking the time to sit down with us and giving us your honest opinion of their experience with the Charternet team!

Looking for a trustworthy source to be part of your online team that is already educated about your industry – that is us! Our hosting package offers many more features than the “big guys” plus the focused attention and dedication of a specialized firm.

Pay-Per-Click, PPC, marketing puts your company front and center in the search results for relevant keywords on Google, Yahoo and Bing. Site Redesign & Marketing Management Increases Traffic & Customer Satisfaction

By | Customer Spotlight, Industry News, SEO Marketing, Website Design | No Comments

We are excited to highlight our next customer feature – Captain Nautica! Last year, Charternet Web Solutions had the honor of redesigning their VI Watersports website and tackling their organic rankings with SEO management. We recently sat down with Steve to review his feedback and guage the impact to the business regarding the redesign process and marketing management.

Captain Nautica provides the most fun and exhilarating excursions in the Virgin Islands. From their snorkel tours with the sea turtles at Buck Island, Green Cay and St. John, the fun and fast Mini-Boat Adventure that cruises out to Christmas Cove, and the Wet and Wild Screamin Eagle Jet Boat, they are the biggest blast in the VI! They are known for their Wild Screamin Eagle Jet Boat: an unforgettable thrill-ride of a lifetime. It’s an awesome 650 HP turbo-charged jet boat that takes you on an incredible high speed harbor and coastline tour packed with fun and excitement!

Give us a little back story. What led you to want a redesign in the first place?

We have had a website for quite some time. The old site turned out to be a somewhat informational and a place where customers could see a couple cool pictures, but not really anything of substance. They couldn’t book tours nor the key information needed regarding our excursions.”

Captain Nautica Before Redesign

In your opinion, what were the specific issues you wanted fixed with your redesign?

“We felt like we were losing a lot of potential business because the website didn’t point them in the right direction. Nor was the website being promoted very well for customers to find us on Google and other search engines.”

Now that your new website is launched, what has your experience been?

“Because of the website redesign and the SEO work that is being done, we have seen our web traffic increase a hundred fold. We have seen more and more website business and have heard from a lot of customers that they have found us by searching Google. Plus after doing some research on our site that was the key in deciding they want to do business with us. The overall affect has been tremendous. Definitely glad that we have the website up and going and changing. The SEO work has proved to be a great asset. We are so glad that we moved in this direction.

From an analytics standpoint, we have seen a incredible change in traffic to the Captain Nautica site as well. They have increased an average of 35 spots in their Google, Yahoo and Bing rankings over the last year with a 95% of the key word rankings being new!

Captain Nautica After Redesign

Seeing the growth in Captain Nautica is amazing. They are growing a much broader audience since implementing SEO and delivering the adventure of a lifetime to their new customers! Take a look at a few of their reviews:

This is the company to go with if you are going on your first snorkeling trip - they treat you right and you have a blast! and the price was right too!

Amy G.

This is a must for anyone visiting St.Thomas!!! Our Captain Molly was a blast, and the day was nothing short of Spectacular! From snorkeling the Norman Island Caves,to lunch on the famous Willie T,to Jost Van Dyke, this was a day to remember.

Dan F.

We had an absolutely amazing time! The captain was fabulous and kept us quite entertained! Our entire family enjoyed every moment of this adventure. We laughed, we screamed, we got drenched! We will definitely do this boat ride again next time we are in St. Thomas. I have already told many people that this is a MUST next time they are in St. Thomas!!! Thanks for helping us make memories!!!

Simone

5 tips to prepare your business for sale

5 Tips to Prepare Your Business for Sale

By | Marine Marketing, SEO Marketing, Social Media, Website Design | No Comments

Are you thinking about retiring in the not so distant future? Did you think your boat was the asset you had to sell? We are here to remind you that the online business you have built with your website is a goldmine and you likely have a buyer right there on your dock. At Charternet Web Solutions we have supported many fishing charter captains and yacht charter brokers to ensure their online business and website are more appealing to a potential buyer! When taking the time to prepare your business for a sale, you’ll likely generate more interest and a higher sales price, simply because most sellers don’t do the proper “prep work” to make the sales process easy and transparent.

So how can you best set yourself up to win when you sell your online business? Take a look at our 5 tips below:

  1. Sell your online business the way you’d sell your boat. Selling a business and selling a boat are similar in a lot of ways — and most people wouldn’t ever let people tour their vessel without making some cosmetic changes and cleaning up before offering it for sale. Will a buyer visiting your website for the first time see order or chaos? Buyers look for companies that show well. A clean, modern website with steady traffic and conversions should be #1 on your list. Having a website that properly conveys the experience you provide on the water is crucial to potential buyer.
  2. Understand the true profitability of your business. Where do you rank on Google, Yahoo, and Bing? You have likely had your domain address and website for years and that is of huge value to the youngster just getting started on the docks. Make sure the online presence you have grown over the years in your local market is prime for the next. They want to buy your traffic, your outstanding rankings and reputation. Maintaining a proper SEO and social media presence can really turn the tide on your profitability outlook to a potential buyer. Encourage current customers to give you reviews, push out fresh content to draw in potential customers, and make your presence known! How are your reviews and TripAdvisor, Facebook, and Yelp? If you are not ranking well and your customer’s reviews aren’t great – now is the time to correct it!
  3. Show strong financial performance. Planning well ahead helps you ensure that your business has a financial record that attracts buyers. A first step is to ensure that your finances are in good order. Although this should be the case at any time, planning to sell your business can push you to focus on this area. You will want to present your business as attractively as possible. Buyers usually prefer businesses that show increasing profits year on year. Good sales forecasts will help to increase prospective buyers’ confidence in your business – but you must ensure they’re realistic and can be supported with evidence. Put your online marketing plan in place now, so down the road you can confidently show potential buyer the constant increase in business.
  4. Increase your visibility. Prior to and during your selling process, you should maximize whatever opportunities are available to increase the visibility of your business. Maximizing visibility goes back to your most valuable assets: website traffic, customer reviews, frequent and fresh online content, your online marketing strategy and a clean, easy to navigate/mobile friendly website. Show potential buyers you and your business are an authority in your market.
  5. Keep your eye on the ball. Don’t let your business performance decline because you’re too focused on retirement or the sale of your business. This will only give buyers additional negotiating power to lower their offers!
